Colonel Glenda Mathurin-Lee is assigned to the Joint Force Headquarters Virgin Islands National Guard (VING) as the Director of Joint Staff and the Director of Staff-Air. She is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the VING in support of its federal and local missions. Colonel Lee is tasked with facilitating programs and directives for the Adjutant General and coordinating efforts throughout the organization to ensure effective planning, communication, and mission execution. She oversees the directorate staffs and programs to include Personnel, Operations, Logistics, Facilities, Communications, and Strategic Planning along with the operations of the Virgin Islands Air National Guard (VIANG). Colonel Lee enlisted in the VIANG in 1988 and served as a traditional reservist until getting commissioned in 2002 through the Air National Guard (ANG) Academy of Military Science, McGhee Tyson ANG Base, TN. She was commissioned as a Communications Officer. Colonel Lee earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration and a Master of Arts degree from the University of the Virgin Islands.
Colonel Lee served on the Counterdrug Task Force in various capacities to include Drug Demand Reduction Non Commissioned Officer in support of Community Based Organizations and educational institutions, Drug Demand Reduction Administrator for the territory, Operations Officer, and Deputy Counterdrug Coordinator. Colonel Lee assumed command of the 285th Combat Communications Squadron in April 2009 until her deployment to Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in October 2011. Upon her return from deployment, Colonel Lee was assigned as the State Human Resources Officer of the VING. She was then assigned as the Director of Personnel & Military Personnel Management Officer for the VIANG followed by the Director of Staff-Air. In August 2019, Colonel Lee was assigned as the Director of Joint Staff and she continues to serve as the Director of Staff-Air.
