The US Virgin Islands Air National Guard (VIANG) is an organization, though comparatively young in formation, is poised for new and unique opportunities and growth in its future roles to both territorial and federal missions. Historically serving the nation and territory as a provider for emergency and tactical communication needs for over 30 years, its’ role and capabilities have evolved and transformed into the current Civil Engineering mission.
As leaders and capability providers to the Territory, it is paramount the crafted future of the VIANG equally meets the needs of its home community, while concurrently fulfilling the nation’s requirements with value-added relevance. Resources and technologies are changing dynamically and it is the responsibility of every Airman to maintain situational awareness of those trends. As those trends dictate, it is vital that each of us, individually and organizationally, assess our contributions to the missions for which we will be future-tasked. We have to assure ourselves we are resourced appropriately, trained adequately, and prepared thoroughly.
The VIANG’s future successes will be fundamentally determined by its ability to plan and prepare for tomorrow’s challenges. Consequently, the organization can credibly determine which challenges it seeks to meet and embrace so that it may assure itself of relevant achievement.
